Got Hope?
Universal Spirit proudly supports the Spirit of Hope at its National Championship. The Spirit of Hope National Championship is held annually at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend in January. Proceeds from the Spirit of Hope National Championship event are donated to the March Forth with Hope Foundation. Hope Stout, a 12 year old cheerleader, was diagnosed with a rare form of osteosarcoma. When approached by the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Hope's wish was to grant the wishes of all the children on the Make-A-Wish® list. Later that year she passed away. Her legacy continues to thrive and Universal Spirit is thrilled to have partnered with Hope's Foundation in an effort to keep Hope's wish alive and share the SPIRIT OF HOPE. "During each awards ceremony of our National Championship, we personally share Hope's story and recognize her family," says Adam Thomas, President of Universal Spirit. "Our awards ceremonies are very emotional. It helps each athlete to realize that there are more important things in life than their placement at a competition." By attending the Spirit of HOPE National Championship, Hope's foundation is able provide assistance to many families that are facing the struggles that Hope and her family faced several years ago. Hope's Foundation is in the final stages of the motion picture movie "The Legacy of Hope." The screenplay is complete. 20th Century Fox has signed on to release 1 Million DVDs upon completion. At this point, the foundation is praying and working diligently for final funding. When asked about the release of the movie, Adam Thomas replied, "Less than one million dollars stands in the way of getting this movie completed. We are excited about the opportunity for Hope's story to be shared globally" At the 2010 Spirit of Hope National Championship, Universal Spirit shared Hope's legacy with more than 260 teams. With the following tagline, "When is a competition more than just a competition, when it Celebrates HOPE," we expect great things from Universal Spirit and the Spirit of Hope in the 2010-2011 season.
